Lauv, Bracelet © LauvGifted 23-year old Cali artist Lauv continues to build his case as the next big thing in pop/R&B with his latest, love-centric single, “Bracelet.”

“I used to have you, now I have this bracelet.” Lauv continues to build his case as the next pop-R&B sensation with lauvsongs that are incredibly sweet. The 23-year old, Cali musician and NYU grad (Ari Staprans Leff) is gifted.  Following singles including “Easy Love”, “Paris in the Rain”, “Getting Over You”, and “Chasing Fire”, the up-and-comer drops “Bracelet.” It shouldn’t surprise anyone that “Bracelet” explores Lauv’s go-to theme – love.  “Bracelet” appears on his playlist, I met you when I was 18.

On “Bracelet,” Lauv reflects on relationship that’s come to an end.  “Didn’t know what I wanted / I’ll admit that,” he sings early on, continuing, “Still don’t know what I wanted / I’ll be honest, I’m not ready to let you go.” Lamenting the fact that it’s over, he is not ready to let go, evidenced for the need to wear her bracelet for an unspecified amount of time.

“I used to have you, now I have this bracelet

I let you go but baby I’m gonna wear it

Until I don’t need to

Until I don’t need you.”

While he goes on to say “I could toss it,” he follows up by saying “That don’t mean that I don’t need to keep you wrapped around my wrist.”

The sound and vibe of “Bracelet” are similar to previous singles, embracing elements of electronic, pop, and urban contemporary music.  Vocally, Lauv has a nice instrument as his disposal, though I personally found myself more enticed by his love experience.  One notable moment within the song and production is a contrasting bridge section (“And another day is passing by / Oh I still need you”).

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, Lauv deserves all the ‘love’ that he can get. “Bracelet” gives him another appealing and relatable single.
