A popular four-letter word: shit.

“I wish that I could dance on a single prayer

I wish I could be strong with the scheiße, yeah.”

Woo! Shock value is on brand with Lady Gaga, particularly the earlier part of her career. Even if this song uses German profanity (and fake German throughout), it’s much more than that.  🎛 RedOne, as always, kicks ass and takes name from a production perspective.  Set in a minor key with a hard-hitting beat and sharp, slick synths, he gives Lada Gaga ample musical inspiration. Thematically, the reason why she’s singing about scheiße is because she’s tired of taking it as a woman.  In the pre-chorus, she asserts, “When I’m on a mission / I rebuke my condition / If you’re a strong female / You don’t need permission.” The feminine energy is lit to say the least!  Another moment that shows “Scheiße” transcends the traditional dance/dance-pop record is the second verse:

“Love is objectified by what men say is right

Schieße, scheiße be mine, bullshit be mine

Blonde high-heeled feminists, enlisting femmes for this

Express your womankind, fight for your right.”

You get a little bit of everything with 🎵 “Scheiße”, sigh. Not only do you get this catchy dance joint you can’t help but move to, but you also get a positive message.  Lady Gaga is all about that feminine energy (F the patriarchy), which is a big-time pro. “Schieße” remains fresh more than a decade after its release.
