In final preparation for his debut album ‘Light of Mine,’ KYLE releases uniquely-titled, Japanese-oriented single “Ikuyo,” featuring 2 Chainz and Sophia Black.
KYLE, who has one of the coolest Twitter handles (@SuperDuperKyle), has already proven he has the potential to be a force in the rap game. The fun, infectious rapper drops his official, major-label debut album, Light of Mine on May 18, 2018. Before the ‘light’ arrives, he drops another new single, “Ikuyo,” featuring 2 Chainz and Sophia Black.
“Ikuyo” maintains the jubilance exhibited by KYLE. Even when he raps over a harder beat or darker production work, he’s proven his ‘buoyant’ personality is unstoppable. That’s the case once again on “Ikuyo.” He has a tougher delivery compared to previous singles, yet even his amplified toughness is endearing. And when he giggles – the personality! His crowning achievement is the chorus.
“Ikuyo, I think we got one (got it)
I put the team on my back like I’m Marshawn (Marshawn)
When I ask niggas for help, yo I got none (whoa)
When I did this shit myself’s when it got done (yes).”
Beyond the sheer infectiousness of @SuperDuperKyle, listeners are given assists courtesy of 2 Chainz and Sophia Black. Starting with Black, she’s responsible for the unique, Japanese pre-chorus. Clearly, this is a vital part of the record, even though sans translation, unless you’re fluent in Japanese, you have no idea what she’s singing. As for 2 Chainz, well, he’s definitely ‘true to self.’ The best way to take him is with a grain of salt.
Final Thoughts
All in all, KYLE has another gem on his hands with “Ikuyo.” His debut album, Light of Mineshould be compelling. Hopefully, people support him – this guy’s got lots of personality and talent.
