Kim Petras, Slut Pop | Album Review 💿

Slut Pop isn’t a deep or profound EP from Kim Petras, but there’s no shortage of naughty, sexed-up fun.

ometimes, sex is the modus operandi. That is certainly the case on 💿 Slut Pop, the 2022 EP from pop musician 🎙 Kim Petras.  Safe to say, throughout the course of this 16-minute effort, the German transgender singer goes ‘below the belt.’  The sex-positive vibes run rampant from start to finish.  Slut Pop isn’t deep or profound, but there’s no shortage of naughty, sexed-up fun.

“Slut Pop” 

“This is slut pop, whip your dick out / Turn your bitch out, out, out.” Woo! Well, it’s safe to say that 🎵 “Slut Pop” sets the tone for Slut Pop (EP). Throughout the opener, Kim Petras is fearless and unapologetic.  Clocking in at less than two minutes, that’s enough time for Petras to get the sex started off right.  Cheers to “Slut Pop” – I think.  Great, slick, modern production by 🎛 Dr. Luke, by the way.

“Treat me like a slut / Little dirty bitch, yeah, I love to fuck.” Holy $h#t! On the second track from Slut Pop, the sluttiness continues! 🤩 🎵 “Treat Me Like a Slut” is another surefire vibe from Kim Petras, with Dr. Luke continuing to kill it behind the boards.  Petras is dirty, unapologetic, and clearly, sexually liberated.   The love and appreciation for sex is lit 🔥; loud and clear. “I wanna go hard / I wanna go fast,” she sings in the verse, continuing, “I wanna last longer / I wanna ride home.” Wow!

“XXX”

Does a song named 🎵 “XXX” leave much to the imagination? Of course not, but you can bet one thing – sex is involved! “I wanna X-X-X…” you get the idea.  Like the two songs that precede, the verse is naughty and titillating to the n^th degree. “Say you got a girl? Like a give a fuck,” Kim asserts, continuing, “If you wanna cum, gotta level up.” Jesus! She goes on to sing, “If you play it right, you can dick me up / Do a line on your dick, it’s a pick me up.” #Speechless! Two minutes of surefire filth! I will say we get more melody on the pre-chorus, where she tells him to “Sex me how you wanna, sex me how you like.”

If you’re curious what Kim’s superpowers are on 🎵 “Superpower Bitch,” don’t think too ‘long and hard’ about it.  It’s S-E-X, peeps! In the chorus, Petras asserts, “I’m a superpower bitch, I can make you cum.” K… In the verse, she “wanna see how big it gets…” BDE for sure. Perfect lead-in for 🤩 🎵 “Throat Goat”.

“Throat Goat”

On “Throat Goat” Petras sings/ melodically raps about oral sex, period.  She has no shortage of confidence, beginning with the chorus which is eyebrow-raising, mouth agape from the jump. “I could take it all, love it big or small / Make it hit the wall, I’m the throat goat,” she sings, adding, “I just sucked my ex, no gag reflex / I just had to flex, I’m the throat goat.” At least Petras accepts all sizes – the sex positivity continues!  Even though she establishes her throat game is on-point from the jump, Kim doesn’t tone things down.  In the first verse, she packs a punch asserting, “These bitches can’t suck like me / Walk in, I’m the sucking queen / Look around, all eyes on me / Jack it off, I’ma suck it clean.” Also, apparently, Petras will perform the act anywhere – Slut Pop, indeed!

Penultimate joint 🤩 🎵 “They Wanna Fuck” continues those sex-positive vibes.  Exactly who “wanna fu¢k” according to Kim? Well, all the boys, of course – what did you expect! Participants include American boys, international boys, “Them Christian boys” and “Them good ol’ boys.” Sure, “They Wanna Fuck” is silly – very tongue-in-cheek.  Even so, it’s ‘irresistibly delicious’ thanks to that undeniable beat.  The lyrics may go ‘way below the belt,’ but the aesthetic – the vibe – it’s real!

Slut Pop concludes with its least-explicitly-titled cut, 🎵 “Your Wish is My Command.”  On the longest song from Slut Pop does Kim Petras clean things up? The hell she doesn’t! See exhibit A, the first verse: “Ooh, daddy, yeah, pull my hair / Ooh, take control, take my soul / Ooh, fuck me up, take the top / Ooh, feel the pain, say my name.” Furthermore, later, over another infectious beat, I don’t think she’s talking about a literal race when she asks him, “Can you take me to the finish line?”

Final Thoughts 💭

So, what does one make of Slut Pop? Well, it’s certainly slutty, haha.  The goal of this EP is to promote sex positivity. The box is checked off.  The execution is successful as well: playful vocals, tongue-in-cheek, explicit lyrics, and a danceable, sleek backdrop.  Slut Pop isn’t the second coming and it’s certainly NOT safe for work, but it’s, um, sexy!
