Welcome to Music Lifts 🎶 🏋, featuring songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity. Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights! So, for the 30th edition of Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 (2025), we highlight “Heart” as performed by Kieran The Light.
“I can’t be living lukewarm and expect them blessings.” Amen, Kieran The Light (Kieran Jolivette). The Christian rapper continues, “If it ain’t going my way, then I put my faith in question / God only real when I need him, I been selfish.” Those words that Kieran shares on “Heart” are so true. So often, we don’t give our all when it comes to living as Jesus would have us live, and yet, we want the perks – the blessings, favor, healing, and mercifulness. We have got to do better, particularly those of us who call ourselves Christians. We call on Him when there’s a storm, but what about when everything is going well? We take it for granted. Before these thought-provoking lines on this highlight from Kieran’s 2025 album, Desires Of A Pure Heart, he asks us to reflect when we “cared about the people you could reach,” and when we “cared about the things that you could teach / With all the wisdom that you gain from all the trials that you defeat.” Let that set in!
“Heart” is indeed heartfelt. This Christian rap record goes deep with Kieran The Light poetically rapping about his trials, tribulations, faith, and living as a Christian ought. He understands his flaws. “I got pure intentions but was falling on way up / I ask for forgiveness and go seek what I could make up,” he spits, continuing, “I let God put all of that to rest before I wake up / And that’s when everything that’s on my chest turn into A cups.” Kieran testifies about his come-up, recollecting demons (drugs, women, and bad decisions) and learning that he “had to humble myself in order to be a student.” Throughout “Heart”, he shines brightly. His cadence, flow, and bars are superb, capturing real talk that so much of the world needs. Accompanied by a dramatic instrumental, he also shows that spiritually fulfilling rap does not have to be square or boring. I leave you with his final lyrics from this gem: “I asked God what’s a better way to start / He said, above all else, guard your…” ❤️!
