Key Glock, 3AM in ToKEYo | Song Review

Memphis, Tennessee rapper Key Glock ‘keeps it 100’ on his brief but entertaining and potent rap banger, “3AM in ToKEYo.”

“Cutthroat motherfucker, if I ain’t plottin’, then I’m schemin’ (Yeah) / Get money, motherfucker, yeah, my closet look like Nieman (Yeah).” Ooh-wee! Key Glock keeps it real (understatement) on “3AM in ToKEYo”. DJ Paul, AYJAY089, and TWhy produced the banger.  Initially, “3AM” features a lush, soulful backdrop, thanks to sampling “Intro” by CHIHARU. During the ‘soulful’ accompaniment, Key Glock delivers the unapologetic, ‘gives no fucks’ chorus:

“I came in this world by myself (Yeah)

Self-made nigga, never asked no one for help (Nah)

My lil’ bro tryna cook a opp, think he should be a chef (Yeah)

The day a nigga play with Glock, he gettin’ put on a shelf (Yeah)

Yeah, get put in a box (Bitch).”

Key Glock brings a compelling cadence and flow. The musical accompaniment changes to a menacing, southern rap/trap sound. The change of pace is signaled by the final lyric of the chorus (“Yeah, get put in a box (Bitch)”) and the opening bar from the verse (“Wrap him like a Christmas present (Yeah).” Notably, the synths sizzle, while the drum programming ‘kicks ass and takes names.’  Do you know who else ‘kicks ass and takes names?’ Key Glock, who drops no shortage of mean bars during the verse. “Diamonds dance like Terry Crews, give these bitches somethin’ to see / Pulled a pocket full of blues and a thirty one deep (Yeah),” Key Glock spits, adding, “My diamonds got her in a trance, next thing I know, she leakin’ / She tryna take it out my pants, damn, she suck it like she teethin’.” Enough said. “3AM in ToKEYo” goes hard, NO CAP!
