Kevin Jonas, Changing | Song Review

Elder Jonas Brothers member Kevin Jonas unveils an enjoyable and thoughtful debut pop solo single, “Changing.”

What a pre-chorus! In case you were unaware, Kevin Jonas, the elder Jo bro, is 38 years old young (born in 1987). He has been a longtime member of the Jonas Brothers with his younger brothers Joe and Nick. Debut singles typically arrive well before *cough* middle age, but on November 20^th, 2025, KJ released his debut solo single, “Changing”.  Yes, he’s older than most releasing their first solo single (plus he’s married with kids), but he does a fine job introducing ‘Kevin Jonas’ the artist to the world.  Jonas wrote “Changing” with JHart, Sarah Hudson, and producers Mark Schick and Jason Evigan.

Word. “Changing” feels right for Kevin. While it sounds fresh enough, this isn’t cutting-edge, electro-centric, or hip-hop-infused modern pop.  That likely wouldn’t be the sound for this particular Jonas.  “Changing” fits firmly into the adult contemporary pop/rock realm.  Perhaps that’s predictable and not always the most exciting, but it works out well for Kevin here.  He sounds lovely as he sings, particularly his ripe falsetto.  He never over-sings but manages to pack just the right punch.  The melodies are tuneful throughout, while the lyrics are thoughtful, centered on… wait for it… changing. “The coffee’s cold like these same old conversations / So I keep on changing, oh, I keep on changing,” he sings in the first verse, and adds in the second, “The kids are watching their gods on television / But I keep on changing, oh, I keep on changing.” The pre-chorus (excerpted at the beginning) and the chorus (appearing at the top of this paragraph) both mark highlighting moments.  There is also the bridge, which is, unsurprising, also centered on C-H-A-N-G-I-N-G (“I’d die if I stayed the same forever”). All in all, Kevin Jonas does a bang-up job on his debut single, “Changing”. Will the kids eat this up? Meh, but those of a certain age will!
