Kesha, Eat The Acid [๐Ÿ“ท: Brent Faulkner/The Musical Hype; Kemosabe; OpenClipart-Vectors, PIRO via Pixabay]Grammy-nominated pop singer/songwriter Kesha surprises with โ€œEat The Acid,โ€ the experimental promo single from her fifth studio album, Gag Order.

โ€œYou donโ€™t wanna be changed like it changed me.โ€ Remember that lyric, folks โ€“ it is a crucial, recurring line from ๐ŸŽต โ€œEat The Acidโ€. โ€œEat The Acidโ€ is one of two promo singles from ๐Ÿ’ฟ Gag Order (May 19, 2023), the fifth studio album by ๐Ÿ† Grammy-nominated pop singer/songwriter, ๐ŸŽ™ Kesha. Take one listen to โ€œEat The Acidโ€ and it is clear that Kesha opts for a different direction โ€“ one that is incredibly refreshing. Just like she previously gave us something different on ๐ŸŽต โ€œPrayingโ€ back in 2017, she does the same on โ€œEat The Acid.โ€ย ย

Kesha, Gag Order [๐Ÿ“ท: Kemosabe]The production is a key part of the change of direction Kesha showcases on โ€œEat The Acid.โ€ This dark pop record thrives off its minimalism. Drums are absent ๐Ÿคฏ! โ€œEat The Acidโ€ is hypnotic and intense. Kesha produces alongside ๐ŸŽ› Rick Rubin, Stuart Crichton, and Jason Lader. The keys and synth work is utterly stupendous, carrying the rhythm and propelling the intensity.ย  Vocally, Kesha sounds elite, never over singing, exhibiting poise.ย  She is never forced to over sing given the tunefulness of the melody โ€“ utterly infectious.ย  Thematically, she experiences a spiritual awakening, recollecting her momโ€™s advice not to โ€œeat the acidโ€ (aka LSD), and connecting with God.ย  The third verse truly stands out: โ€œI searched for answers all my life / Dead in the dark, I saw a light / I am the one that Iโ€™ve been fighting the whole time / Hate has no place in the divine.โ€ย  The Kesha who graces ๐ŸŽต โ€œEat The Acidโ€ is starkly different than the Kesha of the past and that shows evolution.ย  This single is fantastic.ย ย ย
