“I like the way I get to know you / Feel all your human nature / Can’t see a day without ya.” Who is this guy?  Well, since you asked, Keiynan Lonsdale is an actor, dancer, and musician from ‘Down Under’ aka Australia. Among his notable acting roles are the CW television series The Flash, and film roles in Insurgent and Love, Simon. Notably, he’s a member of the LGBTQ community, but dislikes labels (he’s been labeled by media as bisexual).  Obviously, sexuality has nothing to do with musical abilities, which is what we’re examining on his single, “Preach.” Clearly, this dude is gifted, gifted, gifted.

“Talk me that shit I like it soulful.” On Lonsdale’s end of things, he’s incredibly soulful.  Straight out the gate, his talent is keenly perceptible.  He sounds incredible throughout the course of “Preach,” particularly when he reaches the high-flying chorus.

“Oh, you got me shook / I’m fallin’ I can’t / I’m fallin’ I cannot believe it / Touched with one look / Crawlin’ and my / Crawlin’ and my hearts concedin’…”

Naturally, “Preach” is all about love – and he’s trying to really get to know the person he’s infatuated with to the fullest. On the second verse, he expounds, also dropping three f-bombs for good measure.

“Maybe we’ll fuck up sometimes / But who the fuck cares / I want your faults, your errors / Fuck all those insta scammers / You show me textures I would never have seen.”

Final Thoughts

Dirty words and all, Keiynan Lonsdale showcases his versatility on “Preach.” The subject matter of falling in love is tried and true obviously, but Lonsdale is convincing with his execution.  Furthermore, he’s backed by a slick, urban-pop backdrop, which provides even more fuel for his creative fire.
