Kane Brown, Experiment [Photo Credit: Sony]Country singer Kane Brown continues to show growth as an artist. “Good as You,” the fifth single from sophomore LP ‘Experiment,’ serves as perfect evidence.

Kane Brown has been on a roll during the rollout for his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Experiment. Throughout the promotional cycle, Brown has continued to find his voice, showcasing more maturity as an artist.  Ultimately, the singles that have arrived in advance of Experiment have been impressive. The impressiveness continues on “Good as You,” the fifth single from the project.

On the first verse, Kane Brown sings about how awesome his girlfriend is.  She takes care of everybody, including him.  On the following pre-chorus, he goes on to say in essence, that she makes him strive to be a better man.  It’s a ‘tried and true’ sentiment, but Brown seems authentic.  On the centerpiece, the chorus, he sings:

“I just wanna wake up every day here in this bed

Never leave ‘I love you’ left unsaid

It might take a hundred lifetimes to do

But baby, I just wanna be good as you.”

Brown continues his praise on the second verse, closing it out by saying, “So, when it comes to loving you, baby / No, it will never get old.”  Beyond the lyrics and the theme, the production on “Good as You” is a selling point.  Here, Brown successfully taps into his country roots, while also maintaining ample soul. Like previous singles released in advance of Experiment, his tone is absolutely golden.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Good as You” is another strong single arriving in advance of Experience.  Once more, Kane Brown has solid material that captures his strengths artistically.  No, he doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but there’s nothing wrong with a good ole, simple, thoughtful country record.
