K. Michelle, Kimberly: The People I Used to Know © AtlanticUnapologetic R&B artist K. Michelle enlists Chris Brown for her aggressive, ‘I.D.G.A.F’ new single, “Either Way.”

K. Michelle has never been shy. NEVER. Arguably, Michelle is one of the boldest, most unapologetic artists in the game, regardless of genre. R&B is her expertise, and she continues to push the envelope, at least in regards to her explicitness. She lived up to her bluntness on the naughty, “Birthday,” definitely a gift to the ears and… we’ll leave it there.  This time, she returns with the assist of Chris Brown on “Either Way.”

From the jump, the aggressive, nasty groove stands out.  Before K. Michelle or Chris Brown sing one note (aside from the muted intro), the head nods and the foot taps.  That’s always a great sign. K. Michelle comes out swinging, meaning, she’s cussing:

“Ass shots, real or fake
That ass gon’ jiggle for ‘em anyway
Ain’t fuckin’ with me on your best day
I don’t like you, but I love how your man lick the plate.”

Brown makes his first appearance on pre-chorus, reappearing on the following chorus, as well as delivering his own verse.  He matches the attitude of K. Michelle, but he doesn’t outperform her.  In fact, rather than his verse being followed-up with another pre-chorus/chorus, K. Michelle drops another verse – rapped! We first saw this rap persona on “Birthday,” but it’s further amplified here.  She doesn’t stop with one verse either – there are two!

Final Thoughts

So, how does “Either Way” stack up? K. Michelle gets an A+ for energy – she’s turned all the way up. This is a banger.  The chorus isn’t deep, but catchy AF.  Arguably, hearing her spit bars is still an adjustment, despite the fact she pulls them off.  Also, it should be noted that “Either Way” isn’t exactly what you call transcendent.  But, this is enjoyable from start to finish either way.
