What happens when Julia Michaels and Maren Morris join forces? Musical magic, via “Scissors”.  The two-and-a-half-minute cut is a surefire vibe. Michaels, John Ryan, Jordan K. Johnson, and Stefan Johnson penned it while The Monsters & Strangerz and Ryan produced. “Scissors” benefits from a sweet groove with rhythm guitar accompaniment.  The chorus is the first section heard, featuring a tuneful melody, and sweet, breathy, falsetto-style vocals:

“You wanna say goodbye, I’m not crying rivers

If you wanna cut ties, I’ll get the scissors, baby

I don’t mind, I’m not even bitter

If you wanna cut ties, I’ll get the scissors, baby.”

Michaels performs the initial chorus, setting the tone. The post-chorus is also decadent (“Cutting you, cutting you out, cutting you off…”).  Backtracking, Julia brings the rhythmic melodies to life during the first verse (“You should know about me / When it comes to love, I’m pretty cautionary”). Morris brings contrast with more robust vocals during the second verse. The melody continues to be rhythmic and tuneful. The lyrics, likewise, continue to catch the ears: “I know I look it, but I’m not that precious / You don’t have to stay the second we get finished so.” Michaels and Morris join forces in the final chorus and post-chorus.  The girls are unafraid to cut you off, baby.  “Scissors” is brief but a blast to listen to.
