Melodic rapper Juice WRLD returns with another posthumous record, “Wandered to LA,” assisted by pop superstar, Justin Bieber.
T
he posthumous catalog by“Wandered to LA” runs just over three-minutes in duration. It features a nice rhythmic introduction, carried by the guitars – consistent throughout the record. I’m sure those guitars are a product of Omer Fedi, one of the hottest young writers in the game. “Wandered to LA” is well-produced (
Louis Bell and
HARV), blending pop and rap elements (melodic rap), and featuring a banging beat.
“Wandered to LA” features the typical tone and performance from the late rapper, exemplifying the melodic rap style. The chorus appears after the introduction; Once you hear it for the second time, it really clicks:
“I wandered to L.A. hopin’ to explore Little did I know, I’d find a little more Love at my hotel room door From the bed to the hotel room floor.”
Notably, Juice raps about drugs on the first verse, including cocaine and Xanax. I like the contrast (and complement) that Justin Bieber brings on the second verse, focusing on matters of the heart as opposed to substance. As always, Bieber sings beautifully – I love his tone.
Final Thoughts
All in all, “Wandered to LA” is another enjoyable, well-rounded, posthumous Juice WRLD record. There’s nothing game changing here, but hearing “Wandered to LA,” it helps us remember what Juice brought to the table. Again, I like the collaboration with JB.
