“It’s funny, the shit I put on this song ain’t gon’ sound nothing like the shit we was just doin’…” Okay Juice WRLD – whatever you say.  The oft melodic rapper has had a big year in 2019, dropping his ‘colorful,’ number one-debuting album, Death Race for Love, which featured standouts “Robbery”, “Hear Me Calling”, and “Ring Ring.” As is the trend these days, rappers are releasing more and more music, sooner than later, hence, why Juice WRLD is back with a new single post-Death Race for Love, ‘on to the next one,’ with “Bandit.” He taps another popular rapper, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, for the assist.

After his intro, which first expresses his desire of “bad bitches” (cliché, but goes with the territory), Juice WRLD drops a sick chorus which isn’t deep, but entertaining and quite catchy:

“I don’t need no molly to be savage, uh
When I’m on that molly, I feel savage, uh, uh
She the definition of a bad bitch
Stole her, I’m the definition of a bandit.”

Yep, there it is, rather – “Whoomp! (There it is)”.  He goes on to drop the first verse against this excellent production work of Nick Mira, exhibiting a sick flow.  The bars are druggy, as he references the use of Percocet, smoking skunk, mollies, and codeine.  Perhaps this is why he’s a ‘savage.’ That said, she’s pretty savage to if you believe his characterization: “Bad bitch from the woods, I think she a hunter / She a killer and an eater, she a Jeffrey Dahmer.” Well damn.  Following another chorus, YoungBoy Never Broke Again enters the picture, rapping slightly offbeat (not incredibly pronounced, but still) but quite intense. Like Juice, he’s “…The definition of a bandit / Took your heart from out his hands and still ain’t saying shit,” as well as getting dirty:

“Popping wheelies, 4K Trey, call when you land with it (Pop, pop, pop)
I let you dive inside my bros where they be laying with it
I work this bitch; I open up a can with it
Like fuck the stove, I make it jump without my hand in it.”

Final Thoughts

Can “Bandit” be described as a banger? Yes, Juice WRLD, with the assistance of YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and the production skills of Nick Mira drops a banger with “Bandit.” It’s not deep by any means, but this is definitely an entertaining record that shows why Juice is considered one of the hotter rappers in the game currently. A memorable chorus doesn’t hurt WRLD’s cause either.
