JoJo, Mad Love. © AtlanticUrban pop artist JoJo digs into her second single, “Mad Love.” from her upcoming third studio album, also titled ‘Mad Love.’

JoJo is set to release her first album in 10 years, Mad Love. (due October 14). After making a bold statement with promo single “Fuck Apologies.”, she returns “kinder and gentler” with title track “Mad Love.”  The results are superb.

“Mad Love.” has an old-school, soul sound.  The record is simply gargantuan.  Synthesized horns help to amplify the sound.  To reiterate, it’s much tamer than “F*ck Apologies.” which, was good, but arguably too bold.

Expectedly, JoJo delivers excellent vocals. She doesn’t need profanity to get in the way of her talent.  The chorus is as big as everything is, with her singing her face off:

“Cause you give me mad love
How far can we go? Nobody knows
You give me bad love
But I’ll take what I get, I’m starvin’ for it…”

The falsetto following a dramatic second iteration of the refrain is awesome.  The ad libs are superb overall.

Final Thoughts

JoJo really digs into “Mad Love.”  She delivers a magnificent vocal while “Mad Love.” packs more punch being much less explicit than the shock value of “Fuck Apologies.”
