Urban pop artist JoJo digs into her second single, โMad Love.โ from her upcoming third studio album, also titled โMad Love.โ
JoJo is set to release her first album in 10 years, Mad Love. (due October 14). After making a bold statement with promo single โFuck Apologies.โ, she returns โkinder and gentlerโ with title track โMad Love.โ The results are superb.
โMad Love.โ has an old-school, soul sound. The record is simply gargantuan. Synthesized horns help to amplify the sound. To reiterate, itโs much tamer than โF*ck Apologies.โ which, was good, but arguably too bold.
Expectedly, JoJo delivers excellent vocals. She doesnโt need profanity to get in the way of her talent. The chorus is as big as everything is, with her singing her face off:
โCause you give me mad love How far can we go? Nobody knows You give me bad love But Iโll take what I get, Iโm starvinโ for itโฆโ
The falsetto following a dramatic second iteration of the refrain is awesome. The ad libs are superb overall.
Final Thoughts
JoJo really digs into โMad Love.โ She delivers a magnificent vocal while โMad Love.โ packs more punch being much less explicit than the shock value of โFuck Apologies.โ
