Joaicon, my death | Track Review 🎵

Dominican Republic born and bred artist Joaicon shines on his short (but sweet), morbid (yet ear catching) pop single, “my death.”

“I’m losing my breath, I’m not so far from my death.” OMG 😱! Don’t die 🎙 Joaicon! Thankfully, our handsome, talented Dominican Republic artist (Joan Moreta) is alive.  Is he alive and well, though – that is the question.  It certainly doesn’t seem to be the case on 🎵 “my death”, which he penned with 🎼 ✍ Ruddy Quezada.  What has got Moreta dying? Love, of course.  Sigh, it’s always love, isn’t it! After bringing the heat with “boyfriend”, Joaicon continues to build on his artistry with “my death.”

Helping Joaicon bring “my death” to life (😀) is superb production courtesy of 🎛 Jossuell Jimenez 💪. After commencing with clever sound effects, a minor key truly sets the dark vibes – more like morbidity.  Sure, the accompanying instrumental is D-A-R-K, but from a musical perspective, it is ear-catching – even heavenly! Of course, the centerpiece, regardless of marvelous songwriting and fitting production to match, is none other than Joan himself! His tone is incredibly beautiful and expressive, despite the pain and, well, loss of life.  Rightfully, Joaicon lets this guy know he wasn’t sugar honey iced tea! The lies are NOT giving in the least: “Said you want me to stay but you treat me like shit / Like I’m worthless and I have no shame.”  As Moreta has evolved, and exited from this toxicity, he tells his shitty ex, “I hope you remember me and all the things we’ve done.” #MIC 🎤 DROP 💧!

Final Thoughts 💭 

The brief but potent 🎵 “my death” marks my second time hearing 🎙 Joaicon. Once more, Moreta has made me a fan and made my ears perked up. I look forward to what else this young, talented musician brings to the table in the future.  “My death” is a success due to strong vocals, the ear catching, minor-key production, and personal, relatable songwriting. Two minutes of sheer glory!
