Dominican Republic born and bred artist Joaicon shines on his short (but sweet), morbid (yet ear catching) pop single, βmy death.β
βIβm losing my breath, Iβm not so far from my death.β OMG π±! Donβt die π Joaicon! Thankfully, our handsome, talented Dominican Republic artist (Joan Moreta) is alive.Β Is he alive and well, though β that is the question.Β It certainly doesnβt seem to be the case on π΅ βmy deathβ, which he penned with πΌ β Ruddy Quezada.Β What has got Moreta dying? Love, of course.Β Sigh, itβs always love, isnβt it! After bringing the heat with βboyfriendβ, Joaicon continues to build on his artistry with βmy death.β
Helping Joaicon bring βmy deathβ to life (π) is superb production courtesy of π Jossuell Jimenez πͺ. After commencing with clever sound effects, a minor key truly sets the dark vibes β more like morbidity.Β Sure, the accompanying instrumental is D-A-R-K, but from a musical perspective, it is ear-catching β even heavenly! Of course, the centerpiece, regardless of marvelous songwriting and fitting production to match, is none other than Joan himself! His tone is incredibly beautiful and expressive, despite the pain and, well, loss of life. Β Rightfully, Joaicon lets this guy know he wasnβt sugar honey iced tea! The lies are NOT giving in the least: βSaid you want me to stay but you treat me like shit / Like Iβm worthless and I have no shame.βΒ As Moreta has evolved, and exited from this toxicity, he tells his shitty ex, βI hope you remember me and all the things weβve done.β #MIC π€ DROP π§!
Final Thoughts πΒ
The brief but potent π΅ βmy deathβ marks my second time hearing π Joaicon. Once more, Moreta has made me a fan and made my ears perked up. I look forward to what else this young, talented musician brings to the table in the future.Β βMy deathβ is a success due to strong vocals, the ear catching, minor-key production, and personal, relatable songwriting. Two minutes of sheer glory!
