Soulful English pop artist Jessie Ware shines once again on โPearls,โ the second single from her fifth studio album, That! Feels Good!
Donโt let anybody โ ANYBODY โ tell you that disco is dead! Sure, there was that historical Disco Demolition Night in 1979 , but throughout the years, disco cues and elements have appeared in dance, pop, and R&B mediums.
Jessie Ware certainly promotes the genre on the energetic, utterly infectious
โPearlsโ, the second single from her fifth studio album,
That! Feels Good!. โPearlsโ was written by Ware alongside
Clarence Coffee Jr., Sarah Hudson, and
Stuart Price who also produces.
Vocally, Ware serves up sensational vocals on โPearls.โ Always in good voice (she can sing), in this song in particular, she delivers an even fuller, more soulful brand of vocals. All the while, the backdrop is giving a modern dance/disco sound FTW. With Stuart Price producing, exceptional production is the expectation. Besides lit vocals and epic production work, the songwriting โ the lyrics โ are also a blast. โPearlsโ gets off to a fast start as Ware asserts, โExcuse me, I donโt know about you / But I think itโs time to / Shake it till the pearls fall.โ Woo! It doesnโt stop with the pearls, which reappear in the chorus. In the first verse, Jessie characterizes herself as lots of things โ โa lover, a freak, and a motherโ โ adding, โWalking on the line, itโs my human nature / I crave a little danger.โ Later, in the second verse, she is โA perfect Prima Donna.โ I concur, Jessie!
Final Thoughts
Can Jessie Ware do any wrong? Nope. Not at all!
โPearlsโ is absolutely and utterly awesome. Get your dancing shoes on ladies and gents because those pearls โ well โ theyโre about to fall off! Sickening stuff!
