New Jersey pop musician Jeremy Zucker drops a short but incredibly sweet, relatable, and thoughtful pop single with “Always, I’ll Care.”
Ah, there’s something incredibly sweet when listening to New Jersey-bred pop musician Jeremy Zucker. My first experience with Zucker came by way of his simple, yet incredibly effective, relatable single, “comethru”, which appeared on his 2018 EP, Summer,. I was feeling “comethru” so much, I included it as the ninth song on the playlist, 21 Terrific Songs with ‘Come’ in the Title, published on the site in September 2019. Zucker impresses once again with his charming sweetness on the ‘short, but sweet’ single, “Always, I’ll Care.” “Always, I’ll Care” is set to appear on his 2020 debut album.
There are plenty of reasons why “Always, I’ll Care” is pretty swell. As aforementioned, Jeremy Zucker sings beautifully, never overreaching nor underwhelming vocally. He doesn’t need to sing endless runs to be effective, which is a legitimate skill from my perspective. Furthermore, as he sings, there’s an incredible sense of authenticity. Thematically, he tackles matters of the heart, one of the most relatable topics of them all. He does so with reminiscent, thoughtful lyrics, further amplifying the excellence:
“Flipping through our photographs Those moments never seem to last Listening to self-control Those feelings that you’ll never know…”
Of course, the centerpiece is the chorus:
“I’ll be better than I was before (Hey) Despite every text of yours ignored (Hey) Will you call me still, just to hear my voice I swear, always Always Always, I’ll care.”
Vocals, theme, and lyrics play a pivotal role in the success of “Always, I’ll Care.” The production also propels the single, evolving gradually. Initially a piano ballad (played by Zucker), “Always, I’ll Care” adds drums/drum programming, crisp rhythmic guitar, and additional colorful keyboard work. Ultimately, it’s another reason why “Always, I’ll Care” is, well, pretty fly.
Final Thoughts
Jeremy Zucker may be a subtle artist, but he’s quite potent and highly effectively. “Always, I’ll Care” is well-rounded by all means. Vocals? Beautiful. Theme? Relatable. Lyrics? Well-penned. Production? Thumbs up. The biggest rub? It’s only two-and-a-half minutes in duration, I supposed – that’s all I can possibly say against it. Don’t sleep on Jeremy.
