Jennifer Porter, ‘Show Me Your Love’ | Track Review

ennifer Porter is a superb example of a modern blues and roots vocalist who forges her own way while emulating the greats of the past. Furthermore, her most recent album, ‘Sun Come And Shine,’ is a dazzling feast that never fails to delight.

‘Show Me Your Love,’ a song written by the Maine singer-songwriter, is the latest offering from the album. It’s an emotional release and a track that tugs at the heart while avoiding the clichéd love storey. Jennifer also opens up a whole new universe of possibilities for love, expressing her desire to see more of it in the world.

Jennifer’s vocal range is unrivalled, and she always rises to the occasion. On this performance, though, her voice quality soars to new heights. She sings with her heart on her sleeve, and her performance is convincing. It is not a forced projection, as is frequently the case when a vocalist sings about love. Instead, she is forthright with her remarks, and her tone perfectly suits the theme of her lyrics.

In addition, even though there isn’t a lot going on in the mix on this track, all sounds come together and shimmer with radiance. The drums are sturdy by Purdie, laying a stable foundation allowing the other instruments, such as keys and bass, to sit on top of and shine in their own space. Also, near the end of the track, we are greeted by an exuberant gospel choir, creating an extraordinary encounter.
