Jennifer Lopez, Us © EpicJennifer Lopez returns with an enjoyable, danceable single “Us.” While it’s a solid record, “Us” doesn’t feel particularly ‘brand new’ or groundbreaking in the least.

Jennifer Lopez isn’t as big as she once was musically.  It comes to all artists that have reached a period of their careers where they are past their prime.  A new J. Lo single simply isn’t a big deal in 2018.  Nonetheless, Lopez comes ready to set dancefloors on fire everywhere with “Us.”

“Us” opens with tropically-tinged, danceable production. The production work includes rhythmic synths and electro-dominated sounds.  Naturally, it’s sleek, if cliché.  Lopez serves up sexy vocals, amplified by superb vocal production.  She gives a respectable vocal performance that’s enjoyable, but certainly no emotional, passionate tour de force.  The chorus is catchy, but again, nothing earth-shattering.  Question: “Could it be us?”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “Us” is a pleasant, inoffensive record.  Jennifer Lopez sounds great, perfectly suited for this dance joint.  All of that considered, there is nothing new, groundbreaking, or particularly memorable about “Us.” It’s okay, great in the context of the dance floor, but otherwise, forgettable.
