Jennifer Lopez, "In the Morning" [📷: HITCO]Although she serves up nothing ‘game changing,’ Jennifer Lopez reminds us she’s still got it on the sexy pop single, “In the Morning.”

“If you love me / Say it in the morning / Not just in the evening / Only when you want my body.” 🎙 Jennifer Lopez totally has a point on the chorus of her single, 🎵 “In the Morning.” That said, the single cover art is, um, quite eye-catching to say the least (a nude J. Lo).  Regardless, she wants fully committed love that goes beyond what she can offer in the sack at night.

“In the Morning” is a pleasant pop cut by all means.  It clocks in at under three minutes, but there is a sufficient amount of song for ‘Jenny on the Block’ to deliver the goods.  She’s assisted by production work courtesy of 🎙 Jackson Foote and 🎙 Johnny Simpson.  Do these two producers serve up game changing sounds for J. Lo? No, but they do offer a respectable, minor key backdrop with a strong beat anchoring it down.  Vocally, Lopez sounds good – certainly sexy.  She’s not known for powerhouse performances obviously, so she’s definitely true to self here.  As with many pop songs, there’s a sizable writing team.  The question is, was it warranted for “In the Morning?” Eh, it’s not as if J. Lo is going extremely deep here, mostly stimulating us with sensual lyrics, though often questioning the legitimacy of the guy she’s with (“Your sweet little white lies / Leave a bad taste in my mouth”).

Final Thoughts 💭

So, how does “In the Morning” stack up for Jennifer Lopez? All in all it’s enjoyable, sexy, and a good fit for J. Lo.  Does it change her career trajectory at this point (she’s 51, past her most lucrative prime)? No, but it definitely reminds us that Jenny’s still got it!
