Jennifer Lopez & Bad Bunny, Te Gusté [Photo Credit: Sony Latin]Latin pop and R&B icon Jennifer Lopez collaborates with rising Latin urban singer Bad Bunny for the first time on single “Te Gusté.”

“Baby, no te haga sé que te gusté, te gusté, ah / Me miraste y te busqué / Pero dime qué más / Tú hablas mucho y no haces na’.” Yeah, I know what you’re totally thinking – what the hell does that mean? Basically, on their single “Te Gusté,” Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny play two people who like one another, and seem to “play hard to get”.   Honestly, this was a collaboration bound to happen, particularly considering the rising popularity of Bad Bunny.

Naturally, “Te Gusté” is slickly produced, successfully embracing the urbano Latino (urban Latin) style.  Essentially, “Te Gusté” sounds similar to many urban contemporary records, save for the fact that it’s performed exclusively in Spanish.  Focusing on the theme and lyrics of the record, on the first verse, Bad Bunny desires for J. Lo to “Sé mi novia por hoy” aka “Be my girlfriend for today.”  Clearly, the Puerto Rican singer’s character already has a boo, but he longs for “Tú tienes un Tesoro debajo del zipper” (“You have a treasure under the zipper”).  As for Jennifer Lopez, on the second verse, she asserts, “Quiero que tú me enseñes (“I want you to teach me”), What you can do with my body.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, there’s plenty to like about “Te Gusté.” Both Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny play their respective roles well.  This is a sexy record without overstepping any boundaries, that should not only appeal to Latin music lovers, but also the urban crowd.  Will “Te Gusté” change your life? Nah, but it’s certainly a worthwhile addition to your playlist.
