Jeezy returns in top-notch form with hard-hitting banger, “Cold Summer.” He’s assisted by Tee Grizzley. 

There’s lots to respect about Jeezy.  He’s remained consistent throughout this rap career, never compromising with an array of trends and new movements.  No, he’s remained a ‘G’ throughout, and that’s exactly what suits him.  After dropping Trap or Die 3 quietly in 2016, he returns with two new singles: “Cold Summer” and “Bottles Up.” Tee Grizzly assists him on “Cold Summer.”

“Cold Summer” checks off all boxes for a Jeezy song.  The production is dynamic, hard-hitting, and malicious through and through.  Lyrically, he’s unapologetic to the nth degree, retaining his ‘G-status’ without a hitch.  He kicks things off with a hook chocked-full of punches.

“Go drop the top, you can feel the breeze / 30 in the Glock, all you gotta do is squeeze / It just touched down all you gotta do is sell / And if they gon’ ask you question, bitch you better not tell…”

The hook isn’t what you characterize as catchy, but the griminess is indisputable.  Jeezy goes on to drop a verse, similar in style, with Tee Grizzley handling the second verse. ‘Banger’ is written all over “Cold Summer,” and that’s Jeezy’s specialty.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Jeezy is in top-notch form on “Cold Summer.” Since arriving in 2005, he’s been a ‘G,’ and on “Cold Summer” he remains one.  “Cold Summer” offers nothing ‘brand-new,’ but Jeezy flexes on and there’s nothing wrong with that.  After all, “Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.”
