Jason Derulo plans to “Take You Dancing” – 😎. Yet, the dancing he refers to on the infectious pop single references skills in the bedroom.
“Let me take you dancin’ / Two-step to the bedroom / We don’t need no dance floor / Let me see your best move.” Clearly, Jason Derulo isn’t referring to dancing in the least on his latest pop single, “Take You Dancing.” My friends and those who I’ve never personally met before, Mr. Derulo is speaking about a universal three-letter word. It doesn’t matter what particular language you speak; this three-letter word translates the same way everywhere.
“Take You Dancing” masters the art of sexual innuendo. Impressively, we get sex without ever getting sex explicitly – bravo! Jason Derulo is chocked-full of swag, spitting a game early on. “Pull up, skrrt-skrrt on your body / Performin’ just on my ‘Rari / You’re too frank, need a ticket / I bet you taste expensive.” Basically, Derulo does everything but come out and say what’s going down… no pun intended. Anyways, we continue with this silliness throughout the song where we know exactly what Jason and this girl want to do. Somehow, I highly doubt all this ‘dancing’ they are doing IRL would involve merely “da-da-da(s)” as the post-chorus suggests. Obviously, “Take You Dancing” isn’t the most poetic, deeply penned song. Regardless, it’s fun, and we get well-rounded production from Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou and Teema Brunila.
Final Thoughts
There’s no need to pen an essay about “Take You Dancing.” The main takeaway? Dancing = sex, or so this infectious pop record teaches me. Jason Derulo remains an incredibly effective artist, even a decade in the game. Vocally, he could always sing, even if his ripped physique, and radio-ready tunes tended to overshadow his instrument. Sex appeal goes along way, of course, but Derulo has the goods to back it up; he’s far more than just eye candy.
