Wait – it is not usually hot at midnight! Well, it is steaming hot 🥵 at midnight when it comes to this naughty, innuendo and sex-laden column featuring songs intended for nighttime. Yeah, we are talking about that after dark, bedroom boom $hi†, ya dig? These unapologetic records often raises both eyebrows and temperature alike. Woo! In the 19th edition of Midnight Heat (2023), we explore the naughty, sexy vibes behind, 🎵 “Moist” by 🎙 Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson, Damita Jo [📷: Virgin]Timing was not 🎙 Janet Jackson’s friend in 2004. The Superbowl nipple incident essentially stalled the R&B star’s career. Sure, Jackson would still have success, but not to the same degree as in the past.  💿 Damita Jo, a risqué, highly sexual album, suffered in sales relative to her previous album (💿 All For You, 2001), though managed to secure platinum certification.  That said, the sexual imagery of Damita Jo did Jackson no favors. To speak to how explicit the album was, two songs, 🎵 “Warmth” and 🎵 “Moist” were excluded from the amended version.  Now, approaching 20 years later, we revisit the moistness 😈.

Bitmoji ImageMoist is not always a sexual word, but honestly, doesn’t it almost always come off that way? Early on, Janet Jackson leaves little to the imagination.  After she provided the pleasure on 🎵 “Warmth” orally, “Moist” finds her man reciprocating.  That’s right, “Moist” is all about cunnilingus. The imagery does have a degree of poetry but let’s face it – it’s giving S-E-X.  “I’m insatiable and it’s all your fault / So much lust involved to get me off,” Jackson sings in the first verse, adding, “My water falls, your sexuality breeds / A storm inside of me, seas / A touch is all I need to make me scream obscenities.” Wow! So, the poetry painted is a passionate orgasm, courtesy of going downtown…  For good measure, if you were curious, in the pre-chorus, Damita Jo also informs us, “Boy, you ‘bout to make the rain come down.” Gah-day-um! What more is there to say? Janet enjoys sex, and while her horniness and lust came at an inopportune time, she has every right to express her desires as she does on 🎵 “Moist”.
