Ah, England has a rising star on their hands with James TW. The 20-year old London pop singer recently dropped a lovelynew single, “Say Love.”Perhaps the record doesn’t transform pop but is certainly promotes the potential and promise of TW.
“Say Love” begins abruptly, with James TW dropping his pipes from the jump. Early-on, he exhibits a beautiful tone, and easy-going vocals. TW sounds nuanced and in command of “Say Love.” Initially, he is accompanied by rhythm guitar. The chorus adds more production work, notably drums and organ. The drums remain in play on the second verse.
The bridge exhibits contrast, serving up different lyrics and a varied harmonic scheme. Ultimately, this keeps “Say Love” from growing predictable. Following the bridge, TW brings successfully brings things down on the first chorus, before building them back up on the second. Another pro – he serves up an excellent dash of falsetto at the end without overdoing it.
Final Thoughts
Does James TW reinvent the pop wheel on “Say Love?” No, but all in all, he delivers a solid vocal performance and an enjoyable record. Perhaps it’s a bit ‘middle of the road,’ but there’s definitely potential.
