James Arthur, Naked © ColumbiaBuilding upon his breakout success, British pop musician James Arthur returns with a compelling new single, “Naked.”

British pop musician James Arthur earned a breakout hit stateside with “Say You Won’t Let Go” from his 2016 album, Back from the Edge.  The gem seemed to come out of nowhere, before dominating the airwaves. It was ubiquitous – everywhere!  While Back from the Edge as a whole hasn’t experienced the same success, the profile of Arthur is undoubtedly elevated.  He’s a musician who has the potential to have staying power. Building upon his success, he drops a compelling new single “Naked.”

“Naked” checks off boxes Arthur.  First and foremost, he is able to showcase his capable voice.  The nuances, the cracks, and the power all impress on “Naked.” Furthermore, the song itself is well-executed in numerous ways.  The pacing is a pro, beginning more restrained and evolving into something grander and more triumphant.  The chorus is incredibly catchy, latching upon the first listen.  The production is also selling point.  It’s nothing too crazy, but it serves as a solid backdrop.

Final Thoughts

All in all, James Arthur returns strong and compellingly with “Naked.” He sings with incredible authenticity and passion.  His voice is his biggest selling point, though the memorable chorus of this particular song comes in a close second.  Does the nudity change the world? No, the record isn’t game changing, but it continues to highlight the strengths of Arthur.
