Los Angeles pop duo Jack & Jack continue their ascent to superstardom on their thoughtful, dedicated, love-centric single, “No One Compares to You.”  

“Thoughts of you and me keep passing by / Like ships in the night, we never collide.” Sigh, how poetic, and, how utterly relatable. Jack & Jack have remained busy throughout 2018, dropping numerous singles, including “I Don’t Know”, “Closure”, “Stay with Me”, and “Rise” (with Jonas Blue).  In case you’re unfamiliar with Jack & Jack, they’re a LA-based, Oklahoma-born, and Nebraskan-bred duo comprised of childhood friends Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky. Yeah, totally the definition of friendship and brotherhood.  Not only that, their ascent to fame has been pretty amazing, particularly when it comes to who’ve they’ve shared the stage with and their social media following (astonishing). Anyways, continuing to be prolific, J&J start off the first ‘new music Friday’ of October (10.5.18) off right with “No One Compares to You.”

“No One Compares to You” focuses merely on the pop-oriented side of Jack & Jack – no rap bars dropped this go-round.  There’s nothing wrong with that, as the singing is effective by all means.  The production and overall sound are idiomatic of modern pop, incorporating dance and electronic sounds.  This backdrop suits the versatile musicians, who continue to sound fresh, filled with youthful swagger. Vocally, the best moments come by way of slick falsetto, as well as the expressive, more full-powered vocals on the memorable chorus.

“Every time I think I found somebody

I just wish that somebody was you

There’s no way that someone could make me

Feel the same way that you do

No one compares to you.”

Final Thoughts

So, how does the new Jack & Jack joint “No One Compares to You” stack up? Overall, very well.  It’s a feel-good, groovy, and sleek pop single. The theme of the record is simple – tried and true by all means.  It’s clear on the verses, as well as the aforementioned chorus.  Even though there’s a sense of familiarity and some predictability in play, Jack & Jack deliver soundly. “No One Compares to You” is definitely an enjoyable, pleasant listening experience.
