Louisville, Kentucky bred rapper Jack Harlow has some serious swagger as well compelling bars.  Furthermore, he’s shown his abilities to score a legitimate, Billboard Hot 100 hit with his single, “WHATS POPPIN”. What better way to celebrate the success of a hit single? Continue to ride that wave, through a remix, or creating a new record wthy similar qualities.  Harlow opts for the former, enlisting a star-studded cast for “WHATS POPPIN Remix.” The cast includes DaBaby, Tory Lanez, and Grammy-winner Lil Wayne.

Like the original, “WHATS POPPIN Remix” is a banger – a flex-fest.  Jack Harlow and company have superb production work to spit over, courtesy of JetsonMade and Pooh Beatz.  Where the original began with the chorus, the remix begins abruptly with a totally new verse by Harlow. He acknowledges this is the remix on the first line, before bringing his new rhymes to the table, which includes the following bullet: “On the futon, I’m a give her that penis / When this shit’s done, I’ma fill up arenas.”  What doesn’t change about the remix is the chorus, which follows in all its potent glory:

“What’s poppin’?
Brand new whip, just hopped in (just hopped in)
I got options
I could pass that bitch like Stockton (It ain’t nothin’)
Just joshin’
I’ma spend this holiday locked in
My body got rid of them toxins
SportsCenter, top ten.”

DaBaby arrives on the second verse, cocky and confident as ever:

“Call up my bitch, tell her, ‘Bring me that noggin’
Brain real good, she a scholar
I like the thing with low mileage, good brain with no college.”

Pretty clear what he’s getting a there… Tory Lanez raps the third verse, opting for straight bars without the slightest hint of melodic rap. Notably, his flow is quite agile.  Last but not least, Lil Wayne closes things out with the fourth verse.  As always, his voice is distinct, and expectedly, he references sex (“Same old dick, new Magnums”).

Final Thoughts

As stated previously when reviewing the original, “WHATS POPPIN Remix” won’t change your life.  The clichés are in full effect, as you should be able to tell by the number of ways DaBaby references oral sex.  That said, the original is a fun banger, and the same can be said about the remix.
