ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out 9 notable observations from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰,  and 3 observations from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Adele dominating both charts.

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰

Adele, 30 [πŸ“·: Melted Stone / Columbia]πŸ’ While she was unable to secure β€˜a milli,’ πŸŽ™ Adele sees πŸ’Ώ 30 debut robustly at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 to the tune of 839,000 units according to Billboard.

πŸ’ As to be expected, Adele knocks πŸ’Ώ Red (Taylor’s Version) πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift to no. 2 in its second week on the charts.

πŸ’ After debuting at no. 2, πŸŽ™ Silk Sonic – πŸŽ™ Bruno Mars and πŸŽ™ Anderson .Paak – see πŸ’Ώ An Evening with Silk Sonic slip to no. 4 in their second week on the charts.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Robert Plant and πŸŽ™ Alison Krauss πŸ’Ώ Raise the Roof at no. 7.

πŸ’ The top-20 sees a couple of notable re-entries.  πŸŽ™ The Weeknd (πŸ’Ώ The Highlights) re-enters the mix at no. 10 while πŸŽ™ twenty one pilots (πŸ’Ώ Scaled and Icy) re-enters at no. 15.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ French Montana looks beastly on the cover art for his 2021 album, πŸ’Ώ They Got Amnesia.  Unfortunately, that buff chest wasn’t enough to make the LP do big numbers. He debuts tepidly at no. 59.  Still, the eye candy is #LIT.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Lana Del Rey hasn’t ignited the charts with her second album of 2021, πŸ’Ώ Blue Banisters.  This week – just the album’s fifth week on the charts – it slides from no. 93 to no. 161. OUCH! Blue Banisters debuted at no. 8.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Snoop Dogg (+ various artists) debuts at no. 166 with πŸ’Ώ Snoop Dog Presents: Algorithm.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Bryson Tiller cracks the Billboard 200.  πŸ’Ώ A Different Christmas bows modestly at no. 194.

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Adele rebounds to no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œEasy on Me”.  This marks the single’s fifth week in the penthouse.  Notably, 🎡 β€œOh My God” from πŸ’Ώ 30 debuts at no. 5, giving her two top-five hits simultaneously.  Also, all 12 songs from 30 debut on the Billboard Hot 100!

πŸ’ After debuting at no. 1 last week, πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift sees 🎡 β€œAll Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” slide to no. 4.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Glass Animals’ 🎡 β€œHeat Waves” ascends from no. 8 to no. 7 in its 45th charting week.
