iann dior & Trippie Redd, shots in the dark | Track Review 🎵

Ascending pop artist iann dior and intriguing, idiosyncratic melodic rapper Trippie Redd shine on the love-driven “shots in the dark.”

As previously stated, pop artist 🎙 iann dior is on the rise.  He is part of a new breed of pop artist that incorporates elements of hip-hop.  Dior’s profile was greatly elevated on the former no. 1 hit, 🎵 “Mood”, where he assisted another rising pop sensation, 🎙 24kGoldn.  Dior makes great records on his own including the short but sweet single 🎵 “don’t wanna believe”, the second of two singles from Still Here – Single.  On the first single, 🎵 “shots in the dark”, dior enlists melodic rapper 🎙 Trippie Redd for the assist. 

Where “don’t wanna believe” opts for brevity, “Shots in the Dark” is a standard, full-length number, clocking in just north of three minutes.  Constructing the backdrop is a star-studded team consisting of 🎙 Omer Fedi, 🎙 Mike Dean, and 🎙 KBeaZy.  Iann dior and Trippie Redd use their canvas as fuel for their plight-of-love-driven fire.  The results are incredibly sweet. Per the awesome centerpiece, the chorus, dior asserts, “Girl, you’re leaving me scarred / Tears falls, it’s hitting me hard /… Now, I’m taking shots in the dark.” On the first verse, he expresses how he’s bothered by relationship matters, yet admits, “But I’ll be back again, got my medicine.” Likewise, Trippie Redd also depicts how arduous love can be, delivering the fantastic lyrics, “This Hennessey been liquid gold and it’s cripped a broken heart / Tryna find your love again, yeah.”

Final Thoughts 💭

“Shots in the dark” gives iann dior another winner, period.  He continues to showcase incredible potential – the makings of a superstar.  As for Trippie Redd, he continues to exhibit his charm, highly influenced by the likes of Young Thug. The world won’t be changed by this single but there’s plenty to totally heart about it.
