Welcome to Music Lifts ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‹, a column highlighting songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs exuding fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs arenโ€™t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better โ€“ be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the sixth edition of Music Lifts ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‹ (2025), we highlight โ€œTrueโ€ as performed by Christian rapper, singer, and songwriter Hulvey.

Hulvey, CRY [๐Ÿ“ท: Reach]โ€œThe truth is you matter so much to me / You never let me go, You stayed close to me.โ€ Amen, Hulvey (Christopher Hulvey)! The Christian rapper, singer, and songwriter brings ample truth to his single โ€œTrueโ€ from his 2024 album, CRY. Hulvey made the song about his love for his wife, Rachael, as well as God. In its โ€˜trueโ€™ first verse, Hulvey adds, โ€œWalk in this world full of death with a pep in your step / The foundation is solid, yeah.โ€ Yes sir! Hulvey wrote โ€œTrueโ€ alongside Marlon โ€œMotownโ€ Montgomery, Joel McNeill, Alexandria Dollar and producers Ace Harris, Carvello, and Enzo Gran. โ€œTrueโ€ features smooth musical accompaniment led by a warm guitar. Soon enough, rhythmic drums add more of a driving sound (think dance groove).

The messaging is inspiring and prudent. โ€œYour heart is pure, this water so brand-new, brand-new / Ainโ€™t gotta fake or front, Iโ€™ll fight the truth with You,โ€ he sings in the second verse, capping things off with โ€œI get up too high, you call out my pride / You see me the same, yeah.โ€ Hulvey confirms her perfection in the pre-chorus, asking in awe during the chorus, โ€œCan it be true? / You love me how You do?โ€ The chorus, particularly, speaks to Godโ€™s love for him despite his flaws and imperfections.  A great addition to the Christian music catalog, even if youโ€™re not the most religious being, youโ€™ll be inspired nonetheless on the authentic โ€œTrueโ€.
