Hot 100: Rae Sremmurd (“Black Beatles”) ascend up the charts to take no. 1 from The Chainsmokers (“Closer”). 

After spending 12 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, The Chainsmokers have been dethroned.  Surprisingly, it wasn’t The Weeknd who unseated Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall – it was Rae Sremmurd.  “Black Beatles” has quickly shot up the charts, giving life to the rap duo’s sophomore album, Sremmlife 2.  Beyond the rise to no. 1 by an unlikely source, there are many other chart stories from the Hot 100 chart dated November 26, 2016.

 

  1. Rae Sremmurd ascends on the Hot 100 as “Black Beatles” (ft. Gucci Mane) jumps from no. 9 to no. 1.

 

 

  1. The Chainsmokers slip from no. 1 after “Closer” (ft. Halsey) spent 12 weeks at no. 1.

 

 

  1. The Weeknd (“Starboy”) slips from no. 2 to no. 3.

  1. Shawn Mendes experiences a mighty spike in support for “Mercy,” which ascends from no. 80 to no. 58.

 

  1. Lil Uzi Vert sees “You Was Right” jump eight spots from no. 67 to no. 59.

 

  1. Big Sean experiences a “Bounce Back” at no. 61.

 

 

  1. John Legend sees a big gain in support for promo single “Love Me Now” (no. 98 to no. 66). As of yet, the single has peaked at no. 55.

 

 

  1. The Chainsmokers are “Setting Fires” (ft. XYLØ) at no. 71.

 

  1. Meek Mill loses a ton of support as standout “Litty” (ft. Tory Lanez) free falls from no. 49 to no. 79.
