Sia sees her reign come to an end.  There is a “new sheriff in town” on the Billboard Hot 100, and they go by the names The Chainsmokers and Halsey. Single “Closer” jumps from no. 6 to no. 1 on the Hot 100, dated September 3, 2016.  Besides the rise of “Closer” and the fall of “Cheap Thrills,” there are many other exciting stories on the Hot 100 this week.  Get ready for some jewels!

 

  1. The Chainsmokers single “Closer,” featuring Halsey, ascends from no. 6 to no. 1.

 

  1. The Chainsmokers dethrones Sia, who sees her “Cheap Thrills” slip to no. 2. This week marks the 27th charting week for “Cheap Thrills.”

 

  1. Drake’s “One Dance” slips out of the top-five from no. 5 to no. 7. “One Dance” has charted for 20 weeks.

 

 

  1. Adele re-enters the top-10 this week as “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” ascends from no. 11 to no. 10. As of yet, “Send My Love” has peaked at no. 9.

 

  1. Shawn Mendes’ “Treat You Better” moves up the ranks from no. 14 to no. 12. No. 12 marks a new peak position for Mendes’ latest hit.

 

  1. Drake sees “Too Good” improve three spots from no. 17 to no. 14. No. 14 marks a new peak position for the record.

 

  1. Charlie Puth has another hit on his hands. “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” featuring Selena Gomez, moves up one spot to no. 18 this week. No. 18 is the new high watermark for the Nine Track Mind single.

 

 

  1. Flume and Kai take “Never Be Like You” to no. 20 this week. Last week, it sat at no. 25.

 

  1. D.R.AM., featuring Lil Yachty sees “Broccoli” on the rise (no. 26 to no. 21).

 

  1. Kiiara takes “Gold” to no. 23, a new peak position. Last week, “Gold” was positioned at no. 32.

 

 

  1. Tory Lanez sees “LUV” improve 10 spots this week (no. 40 to no. 30). No. 30 marks the new peak position for the closing number from album I Told You.

 

  1. Usher continues to “be on the move” as “No Limit,” featuring Young Thug, improves four spots from no. 37 to no. 33.

 

  1. Daya’s “Sit Still, Look Pretty” makes a massive leap from no. 56 to no. 36. As of yet, it’s charted 12 weeks.

 

  1. Katy Perry’s “Rise” is on the decline. The single slips from no. 29 to no. 39.

 

 

  1. Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners sees a massive leap with “This Girl” (no. 65 to no. 42). “This Girl” features the vocals of Kylie Auldist.

 

  1. Kehlani sees Suicide Squad contribution “Gangsta” jump from no. 62 to no. 43.

 

  1. The same can’t be said for Skrillex & Rick Ross Suicide Squad contribution, “Purple Lamborghini.” It slips from no. 33 to no. 52.

 

 

  1. Lukas Graham’s “Mama Said” improves from no. 77 to no. 55.

 

  1. Mark E. Bassy sees his G-Eazy assisted “You & Me” ascend six spots (no. 78 to no. 72).
