Hoodie Allen, The HypeRapper Hoodie Allen returns with “Know It All,” the second single from his highly-anticipated, third studio album, The Hype.

Hoodie Allen returns with his highly-anticipated third studio album, The Hype (September 29). There should be plenty of hype surrounding the new project, considering Hoodie brings ‘the heat’ when he drops new music.  In advance of album number three, he dropped a scrumptious promo single, “Sushi.” He returns with even more ear candy on his second single, “Know It All.”

“Know It All” features soulful production, which is groovy and throwback.  It isn’t a slow-jam, but “Know It All” is slower in tempo. Arguably, it’s a shade too slow.  Nonetheless, Hoodie Allen keeps things quite alluring.  He incorporates some gimmickry on this particular single, most notable at the end of the chorus:

“…They don’t want me, want me, want me.”

Allen sings on the first verse, as well as the chorus. There’s a bluesy quality, yet he still showcases his swag, not to mention some profanity.

“I might be high
Tonight my day is not going just like
I fucking promised myself (oh god damn)
Oh girl, I need some help…”

The chorus, aforementioned, grows on you with successive listens.  Music nerd alert: The expressive vocals by Hoodie on the word “grow” stand out in particular.

“Some people think they know it all, know it all
But I spend all my days trying to improve
Tell me how can I grow if you’re standing on my toes
Because some people think they know it all, know it all...”

He pop-raps the second verse, with less pitch compared to the first. This is a wise move, mixing things up and eliminating predictability.

“Oh, god damn I’m a be the man when they kick me out of juvie
My life is a motherfucking motion picture movie
God, put your camera back in your pocket…”

Final Thoughts

So, how does single number two stack up from The Hype? Perhaps “Know It All” comes over a bit odd at first. However, give it a couple of listens, and its magic reveals itself.  Perhaps “Sushi” sticks a bit more, but “Know It All” still has bite.
