Home State are an American rock band but are delving into the pop scene with their new track “Call Me / Leave Me.”

If you are a fan of their rockier sound, then this one may not be for you. But, if you are looking for something a little different, then it is worthy of your ears. It has strong charisma jumping out of the track. The vocals are rich with quality, and they remind me of the vocals, we hear a lot now on EDM tracks. At specific points, I could hear a distinct similarity to the likes of modern greats, including John Martin.

A direction which I feel proves the band’s ability to adapt to new markets. After all, they said adaptability is critical to long term success. As a result, I imagine that Home State is here to stay for some time. They emphasize the electro side of their influences here. More so than we have ever heard before. They like to explore with their sound, and the inclusion of a synth is adding a whole new layer to their signature sound.

A personal favourite of mine by the band is ‘Another Night’. But we do not hear much of what was included on that track here. The guitar is taking a step back on “Call Me/ Leave Me.” Also, the chorus has an entirely different sound too. But I like that they are keeping their sound fresh. After all, we do not want a replica.

I do love that guitar sound the band deliver so well though, therefore a little more of that in ‘Call Me/ Leave Me’ could have worked a treat. Either way, it is a great track all the same. You can check it out by listening below. Also, keep an eye on what the band are up to on social media.
