In the 128th edition of Throwback Vibez (2023), we recollect and reflect on “Always and Forever” by Heatwave.
”T”
“Always and forever, each moment with you / Is just like a dream to me, that somehow came true…” Sigh, 🎵 “Always and Forever” is the perfect record for the mature, developed relationship – the exemplary model. 🎙 Heatwave is an international disco/funk/soul collective formed in London, England. Among the talented musicians in the group include 🎙 Johnnie Wilder, Jr. and 🎙 Keith Wilder on vocals, 🎙 Eric Johns on guitar, 🎙 Rod Temperton serving as composer and keyboardist, 🎙 Mario Mantese on bass, and 🎙 Ernest (Bilbo) Berger on drums/percussion. In addition to scoring a hit with the beloved disco classic, 🎵 “Boogie Nights” from their 1977, platinum certified album, 💿 Too Hot to Handle, they added another platinum certified single with “Always and Forever.”
“There’ll always be sunshine when I look at you / It’s something I can’t explain just the things that you do…” “Always and Forever” impacted the pop charts, peaking at no. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its success can be attributed to the smooth production (the musicianship is lit 🔥), marvelous lead vocals by Johnnie Wilder, Jr., and of course, the monogamous messaging. Sigh, lifelong dedication is the modus operandi by all means. It’s best expressed on the centerpiece, the chorus:
“Every day, love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away with a smile
Take time to tell me, you really care
And we’ll share tomorrow, together
I’ll always love you forever.”
The power of love is hella strong, hence, why 🎵 “Always and Forever” has been used ample times at the altar. Even if the love hasn’t grown quite as serious as in matrimony, “Always and Forever” provides a boost – aspiration and inspiration. Feels like this soul classic should’ve charted higher, doesn’t it?
