Be prepared to #SLAY! LGBTQ Bopz ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽถ embraces, highlights, and celebrates singles and tracks by LGBTQIA musicians or allies.ย  In this column, we provide background and insight into the respective musician(s), as well as analyze + go gaga over the decadent bops being served up.ย  Furthermore, when the music dictates deeper, more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is articulated to the fullest.ย  All styles of music are welcome while the BOPZ can be classics or brand-spanking new. So, without further ado, in the 10th edition of LGBTQ Bopz ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽถ (2023), we highlight ๐ŸŽต โ€œgod damn shameโ€ performed by ๐ŸŽ™ Harry Strange.

ย

Harry Strange, What A God Damn Shame (EP) [๐Ÿ“ท: Harry Strange]โ€œWhat a god damn shame.โ€ Wow! What a bold (and profane) statement, ๐ŸŽ™ Harry Strange.ย  According to Strange, he makes music for โ€œgays guys girls & all in between.โ€ Cool! Focusing on the gay POV, he drops a surefire bop with ๐ŸŽต โ€œgod damn shameโ€. ย The two-and-a-half minute cut fittingly appears as the second track (and title track) on his four-song, 2023 EP, ๐Ÿ’ฟ What a God Damn Shame. ย If nothing else, Strange serves up plenty of relatable emotion, whether your straight as an arrow, or, queer AF.

โ€œCut me down just a little bit / Come back round, say youโ€™re missing it,โ€ Strange sings following the first verse, adding, โ€œBreak my heart / Yeah, you break my heart.โ€ Ah, those pesky matters of the heart are what fuel this god damn shame he proceeds to sing about.ย  More evidence arrives in the second verse, where Strange masterfully illustrates his partner (or former partnerโ€™s) weaknesses:

pride heart burstโ€œAll of the times I picked up the phone

To call you but youโ€™re never home

You say that you see the best part of me

But youโ€™re speechless when I ask you to speak.โ€

Damn! More like, god damn, of course.ย  Strong language from Harry Strange but clearly, love, or the lack of love, will make you cuss something fierce.ย  Beyond the lyrics, Strange sings well, while the production (๐ŸŽ› Jamie Clarke) and sound are #Winning.ย  Also, shout out the EP cover art, which is, well, giving those gay vibes, too.ย  All told, Strange might be singing about a god damn shame, but there is nothing shameful about ๐ŸŽต โ€œgod damn shameโ€ as a song.
