On the 12th edition of LGBTQ Bopz
(2022), we highlight the song, “Hold My Body” performed by Hamid J.
B
ring on the B-O-P-Z, like #SLAYYY! LGBTQ BopzTheme & Lyrics
“Hold my body / Never let me go.” Woo! It’s entirely possible that I’ve taken a fancy for
Hamid J – just saying. Yes, the LGBTQ
Iran originating, Germany raised, Los Angeles based musician is handsome (duh), but what I most fancy is his music. In the previous edition of LGBTQ Bopz
, we (I) raved about his ‘cakes’ – his
“Boulangerie”, of course
. This round, he’s more proactive, continuing to make us feel some type of way on an earlier 2021 single,
“Hold My Body”. Surely the man didn’t think that we wouldn’t take him up on his offer
! Hey, might as well play into the thirst!
Hamid J sends his boyfriend (or love interest) an ultimatum on “Hold My Body.” “You been dragging me along for weeks, and it feels like you been searching to find,” he sings in the first verse. Hmm, sounds like a case of indecisiveness! In the second verse, he tells this boy to get his ‘sugar honey iced tea’ together – “You gotta trust the plan / Cuz somebody else may slide in /… So boy, don’t be insecure!” Tell him Hamid! The cure for the miscues this boy’s been committing against my boy, Hamid – intimacy and all it entails. The chorus sums up what he yearns while the pre-chorus, over this groovy, seductive production, lays it out:
“Show how about tonight
You come over make things right
We start with a drink or two
Put us both in the mood
I’ve been yearning all your touches
Caress my body and watch this
Desert with no rain
Spark and burst into flames.”
Damn – that’s lit!
Final Thoughts
So, do you understand why I’m falling in love with Hamid J
? It’s the music, in all its suggestive glory! There’s clearly a personal problem that he’s experiencing with a man who is indecisive about the state of their relationship or whatever it is, but more interesting is imagining the resolution
. Like
“Boulangerie”,
“Hold My Body” is firmly planted in LGBTQ
soundtrack (the music Video
provides further confirmation), but the theme should be relatable to folks of all walks of life. Intimacy can be therapeutic – NO CAP!
