“It’s insane inside my brain, I’m spittin’ this pain on this mic.” Word. He’s back! Who? Why, Grammy-nominated rapper, Gunna.  He drops his first single of 2024, “Bittersweet”, which plays true to its title.  Running a sufficient length at just over three minutes in duration, Wunna keeps it real, showcasing a more reflective, vulnerable side.  As always, he’s both melodic and trill when it comes to his delivery.  He gets a fitting, reflective backdrop courtesy of producers 1SRAEL and Dystinkt Beats.

In the second verse, he mentions the haters, “Hoping that I flop, but I sold copies and copies.” True – he is popular.  He also speaks about his passionate fans and contemplates a YSL reunion.  Besides the verses, the chorus shines, with Gunna showing some wisdom (“Careful with your choices ‘cause you can’t make it twice” and “Praying more on my knees at night, I’m tryna get it right”).  All in all, “Bittersweet” is an enjoyable, honest, and respectable song from Gunna. ‘Banger’ isn’t the right term for this one, but I appreciate how he pours himself into it.
