Perhaps Gucci Mane, assisted by Quavo won’t change any lives with single “BiPolar,” but he definitely entertains on this banging flex-fest.
“Bipolar with the check / I just put somethin’ crazy ‘round my neck / Go crazy with your ex / I just might go crazy with my bitch.” Wow. Gucci Mane has been incredibly prolific since being released from prison in 2016 – understatement. Album after album, and single after single have been issued at the hands of the mush-mouthed southern rapper. Releasing so much material, it’s easy to become saturated as an artist. That’s happened with Gucci to a degree, even if he’s always good for a banger. He was definitely good for a banger on the impressive “I’m Not Goin’” featuring Kevin Gates. Gucci is ‘back at it again’ with “BiPolar,” featuring Quavo.
As the aforementioned excerpt from the chorus suggests, Gucci Mane is reference bipolarity in regards to money. Therefore, given the early appearance of the chorus, it’s easy to deduce that the song is a flex track. Shocking right? On the first verse, he’s clearly ‘crazy’ when it comes to all things ‘material’:
“Rude bipolar gang, diamond tennis chains on huge
A marijuana war, we’ll take your trees like Scrooge
My bitch bad and yellow, but my hunnids all blue
I just went bipolar, put my wrist on Tom Cruise.”
Of course, Quavo isn’t left out of the flex-fest. Naturally, he’s a fitting collaborator for Gucci, not to mention this ‘balla’ cut. He rides the minor key production with incredible finesse – well maybe ‘finesse’ isn’t the right word considering lyrics like, “I fucked her, then get out of my face, that’s that bipolar shit.”
Final Thoughts
All in all, “BiPolar” gives Gucci Mane another respectable banger. There’s nothing transcendent about it, but, it’s catchy as albeit, particularly the chorus.
