hen you’ve got it, you’ve got it! GIVĒON (Giveon Evans) most definitely has got it – a marvelous voice that is! After impressing on 💿 When It’s All Said and Done… Take Time, Evans is prepping his proper, debut album. Leading the charge is the marvelous promo single, 🎵 “For Tonight”.  All the things that you loved about When It’s All Said and Done and Mr. Evans’ celestial, one-of-a-kind voice, remain intact here.

This three-and-a-quarter-minute gem was penned by Evans, 🎼✍ Marcus Semaj, 🎼✍ Sevn Thomas, and 🎼✍ Tony Dixon. The songwriting is well-rounded, setting up GIVĒON to enjoy her, though solely “For Tonight” as the title implies.  “For tonight, I’m yours,” he sings on the tuneful chorus, continuing, “So deny the truth / We’ll stay behind closed doors / ‘Cause all I wanna do is lie with you / Even though it’s wrong to lie with you.” Sure, we’ve heard this scenario time and time again, and yet, it never gets old.  Evans does it justice. Helping him out besides a strong pen is the production, crafted by Sevn alongside 🎛 Jahaan Sweet and 🎛 Akeel Henry. “For Tonight” sounds modern enough for a R&B record, but also reminisces on the R&B of the past. I appreciate the soulful sounds, which complement those commanding, nuanced, soulful vocals of Evans.

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageDoes the 🎵 “Like I Want You” singer come through again? You bet! “For Tonight” is awesome.  Great vocals, intriguing and perhaps relatable songwriting, and fine production work. What more could you ask for? Furthermore, I failed to mention this, but GIVĒON also has the perfect look of a R&B superstar.  Wouldn’t you agree?
