Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype (BF): Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes you/your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Wildheart: We’ve always aim to deliver the best possible ‘product’ for lack of a better term, always striving to write the best music we can and always give the most energetic live performance that we can muster. I’ve always been a big fan of making sure that what we record is matched live to give the most authentic experience possible.

BF: Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your band form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

Wildheart: Basically, we were just a bunch of mates that all came from various bands that had broken up and when we came together we just simply wanted to write a solid record, one that was heavy, melodic and meaningful. We didn’t really have any particular genre in mind we just went with the creative flow.

BF: Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Wildheart: When we started we were just super focused on writing and releasing our first EP ‘A Thousand Days’ and playing as many shows as we possibly could. Shows are obviously still our main thing but we 100% are looking at what we can do to really get our name out there.

BF: Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Wildheart: There are so many ha-ha….it really is a big melting pot, everything new I hear has something to offer regardless of whether you sound like them or not. But I always find myself going back to TGI records, early For the Fallen Dreams, Bury Your Dead, even Architects.

BF: Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.

Wildheart: Probably the most hectic thing to happen to this day is when our old guitar player dislocated his arm in the last few moments of our set…on our first show on our first tour. Was literally the last part we rang out heard him scream and we didn’t think much of it we thought he was just super into the music and got a bit emotional then laid down on the floor and we realized the dude had actually injured himself. BUT he played every other show with no issue so crisis averted.

BF: Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Wildheart: That’s hard as it’s always changed but up until we released our new EP, We Are.  I’d say probably “Above & Below”. Now it’s probably a tie between title track “We Are” and “Solitude”.

BF: Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Wildheart: Our lead singer (Axel Best), is indigenous, a Yugambeh man to be precise!

BF: Closing this thing out, what is you/your band currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Wildheart: Now we’ve got this new EP, We Are released to the world, we’ve started working on a full-length and in the meantime aim to play as many shows around Australia as possible and hopefully get ourselves overseas as well!

BF: Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
