“We blend crushing riffs with eerie atmospheres, weaving stories of alien invasions, demonic possessions, and zombie-infested nightmares—all wrapped in a thick haze of fuzz and doom.” Now that sounds badass! Before describing their uniqueness, The Red Crow describes themselves as “a sonic storm of Stoner Metal drenched in existential dread, with a twist of the supernatural.” Word.  We get the inside scoop on the Brazilian, Portugal-based stoner metal band’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s get into Getting to Know… The Red Crow: Interview No. 455!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes The Red Crow distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

We are The Red Crow, a sonic storm of Stoner Metal drenched in existential dread, with a twist of the supernatural. What makes us unique? We blend crushing riffs with eerie atmospheres, weaving stories of alien invasions, demonic possessions, and zombie-infested nightmares—all wrapped in a thick haze of fuzz and doom. When we hit the stage, it’s not just a performance; it’s a ritual. Expect massive soundwaves, hypnotic grooves, and an experience that feels like being dragged into another dimension.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did The Red Crow form, and what were some of your goals or visions early?

The band formed from a shared love of heavy, psychedelic, and doom-infused sounds. We started in dark rehearsal rooms, fueled by vintage amps, late-night jams, and the burning desire to create music that felt like an escape from reality. The goal was simple: craft something heavy, atmospheric, and immersive —music that pulls you in and refuses to let go.

The Red Crow [📷: The Red Crow]Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

At first, our only goal was to write music that felt true to us and play loud as hell. Now, we want to take that energy and push it further—bigger shows, deeper concept albums, and a sound that continues evolving without losing its raw intensity. We’re also looking to expand our presence in the stoner/doom scene, connecting with more like-minded fans and bands.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

We draw inspiration from Red Fang, Nirvana, The Sword, Black Sabbath, and Motörhead—a mix of raw grunge energy, heavy groove-laden riffs, and unrelenting rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Their ability to blend melody with heaviness, rawness with precision, and storytelling with sonic force has shaped our approach to songwriting and performing.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

There was one gig where everything went haywire — amps blowing out, lights flickering, and even a weird power surge that shut the venue’s main speakers off for a few seconds. It felt like some otherworldly force didn’t want us to finish the set. The crowd was losing it, moshing in near darkness, while we just leaned into the chaos. Somehow, it turned into one of the most intense, unforgettable shows we’ve ever played.

To this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

It’s hard to pick just one, but “Spellbound”, the title track from our debut album, is a beast live. It starts slow and eerie, then erupts into a crushing wall of sound. The crowd always gets lost in it, headbanging in sync with the riff. It captures everything we love about heavy music — dark atmospheres, hypnotic rhythms, and pure sonic weight.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left-of-center we should know about The Red Crow? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Not sure if it’s a talent, but we’re obsessed with horror and sci-fi. A lot of our songs are inspired by old cult films, Lovecraftian horror, and dystopian nightmares. We also have a knack for making the worst gas station coffee somehow taste decent—a true road warrior skill.

The Red Crow [📷: The Red Crow]What is The Red Crow currently working on or promoting that you can share? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Right now, we’re riding the momentum of Spellbound, but we’re already crafting new material. Expect something darker, heavier, and even more immersive. There may or may not be a concept album in the works — otherworldly horrors and doomed civilizations might be involved. Stay tuned.

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
