“We have a unique, heavy, groove rock sound that can make almost anyone headbang and move with us.” Rock on, 🎙 The Grym Sins! The band adds, “We also put on quite a show if you see us live with plenty of movement and many “colorful” outfits our lead singer wears on stage.” Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop from the collective comprised of 🎙 Lane, 🎙 Billy, 🎙 Daniel, and 🎙 John: genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… The Grym Sins: Interview No. 282!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes The Grym Sins distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 Our band is very distinct for a few reasons! We have a unique, heavy, groove rock sound that can make almost anyone headbang and move with us. We also put on quite a show if you see us live with plenty of movement and many “colorful” outfits our lead singer wears on stage.

The Grym SinsOkay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did The Grym Sins form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

🎤 The band started off with two members, Lane (vocals/guitar) and Billy (guitar), splitting off from a previous band, then we asked our bassist Daniel to join us. Early on we wrote music with a desire to find our own voice as musicians and write more original music. Then after two of us went off to college we met John through one of our music teachers, and he was a phenomenal drummer and after we met him our music flourished into what it was today.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 Our goal stayed the same, but our perspectives have definitely changed as we went on in our musical career. At first, we were just wanting to be able to make a living off of music since it was a passion all of us shared, that was just a common goal we all had. But then as we kept writing more, growing, playing at bigger places, and even recording our music finally, we realized that this was something we actually could do!

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Some of the biggest influences on our sound are 🎙 Alice in Chains with their amazing riffs and their heavier sound from their 💿 Facelift album, 🎙 Rival Sons for their amazing vocals and groovy riffs and rhythms, and also our lead singer Lane quite likes posing like 🎙 Robert Plant on stage so 🎙 Led Zeppelin deserves a shoutout.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 Of all the things that I can think to mention the one moment that always sticks in my mind is the very first time we played with John (drums) as a band, we had played every song that we knew together and we still had some time we needed to take up so we looked back at him and asked “Do you know ‘War Pigs?’” and we jammed it out for the first time ever as a band right there on stage! It was messy as it was also our first show as a full band, but the crowd loved it so as far as we’re concerned it went very well.

The Grym SinsUp until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 We all have different favorites since we each write in a very unique style, but three that I know we all love to play are 🎵 “Turn Me to Stone”, 🎵 “Miss Sunshine”, and our most recent single, 🎵 “Golden Headstone”. But that might change with some upcoming releases.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Probably the most surprising thing is that we didn’t have a steady drummer for almost two years until we were finally blessed with the rhythm god that is John! So even though we already blend extremely well he’s only been in the band for about a year!

Closing things out, what is The Grym Sins currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 Well, we just finished recording our EP with plenty of new songs we’re sure everyone will love so be on the lookout for that!

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
