Getting to Know… The Chuck Creasy Band [Photo Credits: The Chuck Creasy Band, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]On the 94th interview on The Musical Hype, we get the scoop from Chuck Creasy about none other than The Chuck Creasy Band.

“When it comes to us and our stage presence, we’re all as punk rock as can be.” Rock on! For the 94th interview on The Musical Hype, we get the inside scoop on Los Angeles rock band The Chuck Creasy Band.  The band is comprised of four members: Chuck “Robby” Creasy (vocals and guitar), Max Porush (guitar), Houston “Charlee” Conley (bass), and Chad Lavinio (drums).  Creasy himself answers all of our burning questions about the band – background, goals, visions, projects – all of that.  Without further ado, let’s dive right into Getting to Know… The Chuck Creasy Band: Interview #94.

Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes The Chuck Creasy Band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Well, our music is all about feeling good and having a fun time. Life is too short to worry. When it comes to us and our stage presence, we’re all as punk rock as can be. We make sure there’s never a dull moment and there is always a high level of emotion and energy that the crowd can feed off of.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did The Chuck Creasy Band form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

We formed in September 2019 after I’ve been writing new songs for two years with a different sound and vibe from my last band. The initial goals and visions were to just play music that we enjoy with our friends and have fun doing it. Never stress about it, just love what we do.

Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

We have not been a band for too long, but I can honestly say the goals haven’t changed much. We just really have an awesome time jamming and playing music together. Something I have been focusing on more is trying to get us on the road because tour life is an incredible experience. Hopefully once all the Covid-19 stuff fades we can pursue that more.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

My musical influences are vast. I was a guitar player way before I was a singer and took much influence from bands like Metallica, Queen, Pink Floyd, etc. But as a vocalist and lyricist, I really relate more to artists like Bright Eyes, Say Anything, Brand New… All the really angsty stuff of the 2000’s. I’d say combined, it’s created a pretty fun and cool fusion.

Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.

Tour is crazy in itself. I toured with my old band, Farewell, My Love, for seven years straight nationally and internationally. I’m not sure if I’d consider it the wackiest, but the coolest had to be when we were playing a near sold out show in London, England and we all crowd surfed while playing, if I remember correctly. The prestigious British publication, Kerrang!, was also at the show to review it for their magazine and gave us an amazing ‘Five K’ review, which is the highest possible if you don’t know. That night is definitely one I will always hazily remember.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

My favorite song I’ve ever recorded is our new song “Everything Is Fine”. It’s very special to me because it holds a message that is really important to me and is something I hope people take from it while listening. Also, it is the first song I have ever completely written, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered all on my own.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

I make a fantastic vodka martini that I love to enjoy every day at 5pm with a couple quality cigars. I also really love hosting parties and cooking/grilling and bartending for everyone. I really just love when everyone around me is having a great time.

Closing this thing out, what is the band currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

We have a lot of new music in the works, probably a new single/music video sooner than later. We’re always writing and coming up with new ideas. For now, please listen to all our music and check out all of our videos at chuckcreasey.com.

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
