“As a three-piece band, The Bind show our eclectic 90’s musical roots often.” Awesome! In response to our first burning question, 🎙 The Bind, a three-piece rock band from Massachusetts, expounds, “Our sound as a band is a familiar trio roar with our unique interpretation of how we hear music.” Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop on The Bind’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know…The Bind: Interview No. 324!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes you distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 As a three-piece band, The Bind show our eclectic 90’s musical roots often. Our sound as a band is a familiar trio roar with our unique interpretation of how we hear music.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did The Bind form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

🎤 Formed after high school we have pushed, dragged, and powered through to get here. Brought up from local bars and dives to the fleeting original music scene that had prospered during the 1990’s in and around Boston/Providence. We focus on original music and a tight exciting live show

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 When we started, the big dreams were all there. All that we could hope for kind of stuff. The reality is you make art to satisfy a need. Satisfaction is finding commonality with others in things you create. If we could support ourselves and family in this creative endeavor, while making other people happy. That would be our goal

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Some of the bands that opened our eyes to what music is: Billy Joel, the Beatles, Phish, Pink Floyd, 311, Sublime. Anyone that helps you find a love of music is an influence, so some of our music teachers, too.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 At a club where the bathroom was past the stage, one night someone coming from the bathroom decided to re-enact their best drunken Jim Morrison. He was quickly and physically “escorted” from the stage. We drove to New Jersey to showcase for a well-known label, they wanted us for sure!…and a large down-payment. Live and learn, though. I’ve heard this same story from other people with the same label

The BindUp until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 🎵 “Looking 4 U”. It’s titled like a Prince song sounds like it could’ve been Hendrix that wrote it. It has simple words in a slightly poetic twist and means exactly what it says.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 We have all worked together at a company, building pieces for schools and shopping places etc. Everything from the local High School to the Guitar Center. Our guitar player can’t help but tinker and mod his gear. Our bass player aspired of being a media personality. Our drummer is ever the grump but has a hell of a nice yard!

Closing out, what is The Bind currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 The Bind just released the single 🎵 “Swells” and a video to go with it! We have a prior release,  🎵 “Apples & Oranges”,  that we did independently. After “Swells” we are now working on a proper album for our home of SODEH records.
