“We are vampires with fangs, blood, and trench coats, which is pretty unique.” Indeed, Sinsation! In response to our first burning question, the SoCal, self-described vampiric metal band adds, “We also have a solid live show with smoke, lights, and lots of strobes and we keep the energy high and energetic, with audience participation, etc.” Good stuff! We get the inside scoop on the band’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further spoilers, let’s jump into Getting to Know… Sinsation: Interview No. 409!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Sinsation distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Greetings and thank you so much for having us, you rock! We are vampires with fangs, blood, and trench coats, which is pretty unique. We also have a solid live show with smoke, lights, and lots of strobes and we keep the energy high and energetic, with audience participation, etc. We also have a great songwriting, production, and video production team. And we have an awesome label in Sodeh Records.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How was Sinsation formed, and what were some goals or visions you had early on?

We formed at The Zombie Prom in California in 2019. Our first single, “Sleeping Death”, did really well. It landed us a record deal, management, and some good traction. After a few member and label changes, we landed with the current lineup and record deal with Sodeh Records.

Here is a video from last year, “I Am Man.”

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

From the genesis of Sinsation, we have always been driven to put out music, videos, and content and improve and grow with every release. That hasn’t changed, but we have evolved and mastered the art of consistency. More, bigger, better. Crazier videos, wilder live shows, Festivals, releases. We can always do more, improve, be more creative, and take it a step higher.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

That is so true. I can speak for all of us, all the shows we have played the past 4 years or so we have been influenced and inspired by so many of the bands we have shared stages with. Labelmates Suppressed Intentions. Living Darkness, Hexenghul, Firing All Cylinders and so many others. As far as big bands, Burning Witches, Arch Enemy, Clutch, Edema, Korn, Killswitch Engage, The Cure, Nervosa, Lamb of God. Primus. And someone MIGHT have a guilty pleasure……Taylor Swift.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

We love fun stuff! We played a festival in South Central LA, not the best neighborhood to say the least. We were all a bit scared at first but once we settled in it was incredible! The gnarliest pit we have seen in a while. But a guy was so drunk he thought our merch booth was a bathroom and kept trying to piss on it. Finally, he got the picture, and peace was restored. Another show was Edema at The Big Rock bar in the high desert. Think of the bar in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. Off the side of a dirt road, but it kicked major ass. Sammy even contracted COVID-19 from that show, but it was worth every moment. Fun fact…The shots in our upcoming video were from that show.

Until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

“Horns Up Fangs Out.” This is our vampire anthem that everyone can sing along to live. It it a call to arms for fans to chant and get blood drunk. Sing it with us!!!! “HORNS UP FANGS OUT Come on louder!!!” laughs.

Sinsation [📷: Sinsation]Is there anything else the world should know about you that is awesome, cool, or left-of-center? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Billy is a killer surfer. Sammy is a paddleboarder and free diver. Stacy knows how to sail a sailboat and is from Bakersfield Ca., and Mike is so shredded, that he eats like a teenager but is seriously ripped. Sado is a tech genius and travels the world setting up virtual reality systems.

What is Sinsation currently working on, or promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

We have a new single out on Sodeh Records called “Sinsation Nation”. Our next single/video is called “Zombie Nightmare” and will have our most ambitious video to date. Think of a battle between zombies and vampires…who will win? We would like to thank you The Musical Hype, our sponsors Skull Strings, Sophia Tremelos, Artificial Guitars, TigerLuv Guitars, Warp Core Pickups, Coffin Cases, Poison Valley Clothing, Dirtbag Clothing, Soultone Cymbals, and Black Cat Amps. And most importantly all our fans around the world. We love you.
