“Like to think we play a very unique blend of rocky-poppy-bluesy-funky-reggae.” Cool, 🎙 Sig & The Fire Pilots! Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop on the Cannock, England three-piece: their genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. Sig answers our burning questions in engaging fashion 🤘! So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know…Sig & The Fire Pilots: Interview No. 350!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Sig & The Fire Pilots distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Like to think we play a very unique blend of rocky-poppy-bluesy-funky-reggae, but, the rhythm section in this band are the bomb. Duggy (Drums) comes from a punk background , hard hitting and solid. But the Bass, all I can say is …we have a Clarky.

Sig & The Fire PilotsOkay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Sig & The Fire Pilots form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

“Sig,” desperate to get a band going, got tipped off to go see Clarky (Dave)… He said he had been looking to do something original. One rehearsal, then COVID. (Bugger) Two years wait, then we, Dave, and me started in earnest  to work on songs with a drum machine in a little room at The Station (Venue in Cannock). Months went by, struggling to get a drummer, Duggy’s name was mentioned, Dave managed to contact him, and he was well up for it . We always said, No pressure, let’s just record some songs, do a couple o’ gigs and see what happens. It seems to be going well so far…

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

S&TFP’s first single [🎵 “CLICK BAIT”] has exceeded all expectations.  We have been blown away by some of the reaction and feedback we have received, [We] feel very humbled by it all. We are hoping that the next release (🎵 “Almost Out Of Time”) lands on the same ears… exiting times…

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Lynott, Marley, Lennon. There are many more. But, these are held in high esteem because of their impact as human beings,  as well as their musical contributions .

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

(The Stool Dance) was playing in a club, Two drunken guys started arguing, then fighting.  One grabbed a stool to hit the other with, but he grabbed it as well, and then they proceeded to pull and push each other across the dance floor for a good 5 minutes while we carried on playing. Hence, The Stool Dance.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

I wrote a song called, “She Loves.” I wrote it about my mom , so that’s kinda special to me. But I love playing “Coppin A Feel” … it’s got a Bo Diddley vibe and it rocks 🤘 …

Sig & The Fire PilotsIs there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Racing motorcycles, done that a bit… very Intense. It’s like meditation, don’t have time to think about anything else, same as Mountain Biking… anything two wheels…

Closing out, what is Sig & The Fire Pilots currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Still currently promoting our first single ( 🎵“Click Bait”) … Been looking for venues to record our next video. Ready for our next single … recording is done and finished…

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

Many thanks to you and yours,

Bless Ya –  Sig, Dave, ‘n’ Duggie
