Getting to Know… Schëppe Siwen: Interview No. 443 [📷: Brent Faulkner / The Musical Hype; Schëppe Siwen]In the 443rd Q&A in our Getting to Know… series, we get the inside scoop from ambitious folk punk Luxembourg band, Schëppe Siwen.

“We don’t just play music—we throw parties that hit like a tidal wave.” Word, Schëppe Siwen! The ambitious, folk/punk Luxembourg band expounds, “Our fusion of punk energy with folk soul creates a vibe that’s equal parts mosh pit and dance floor.” Ooh-wee! We get the inside scoop on the band’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and current and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump into Getting to Know… Schëppe Siwen: Interview No. 443!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Schëppe Siwen distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

We’re Schëppe Siwen, and we don’t just play music—we throw parties that hit like a tidal wave. Our fusion of punk energy with folk soul creates a vibe that’s equal parts mosh pit and dance floor. Throw in 10 musicians, a ton of brass, and a whole lot of swagger, and we’ll have you singing along even if you don’t know the words or the language.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Schëppe Siwen form, and what were some of your goals or visions early?

We started as a chaotic experiment— friends jamming in the basement, blending folk melodies with punk fire to play our first concert in a small bar for St. Patrick’s Day. Early on, our only goal was simple: make people dance, shout, and feel alive. That hasn’t changed much, but now we have better gear and louder crowds.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

We’ve grown — not just in size but in ambition. When we started, it was about having fun and making noise. Now? It’s about pushing boundaries, creating a legacy, and taking our music to every corner of the world. We’re not just making records; we’re making memories.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

We pull from everywhere— The Pogues for their raw folk-punk vibe, Flogging Molly for their energy, and even a touch of Rancid for that punk edge. But let’s not forget the traditional folk sounds of Luxembourg, which keep us grounded in our roots.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

Let’s set the scene: a few years back, we played an “Oktoberfest.” Sounds fun, right? Except we weren’t ready for the 1-liter beer glasses. By the time we hit the stage, things got… messy. Our bass player straight-up left the stage mid-show and our drummer? He fell asleep during one of the last songs. The hired technician looked like he’d seen a ghost, but the crowd? They loved it. Cheered us on like it was part of the act. Best part? We were invited back the following year —and this time, we nailed it. No beer, just pure focus (and maybe some water in those glasses).

To this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

“Richtung Fräiheet”— hands down. It’s the anthem of where we’re at right now: raw, rebellious, and full of heart. When the crowd sings it back to us, it’s like the world stops and the music takes over.

At our core, we’re still the same kids we were at 16 — wild, fearless, and ready to take on the world. Sure, we’ve learned a lot, but the mentality? It’s untouched. If you see us goofing around backstage or arguing about whose turn it is to buy snacks, you’d know: nothing’s changed, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

What is Schëppe Siwen currently working on or promoting that you can share? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Apart from a massive tour next year, we’re cooking up something truly huge for the end of 2026 — a lifetime dream in the making. We’re crossing every finger and toe hoping it becomes a reality. But for now, it’s top secret. We’re keeping it under wraps because, hey, we don’t want to jinx it. Stay tuned — it’s going to be worth the wait.
